The Vietnamese Nationalist Party, known in Vietnamese as Việt Nam Quốc Dân Đảng (VNQDĐ), was established in 1927, drawing inspiration from the Kuomintang in China. It was founded with the primary goal of achieving independence from French colonial rule over Vietnam. The party's ideology was a blend of nationalism, patriotism, and a desire for sovereignty, combined with elements of Confucianism and later, some aspects of socialism. Its values centered on the liberation of Vietnam from foreign domination, promoting Vietnamese culture and identity, and fostering a sense of national…   unity among the diverse regions and ethnic groups within Vietnam.

The VNQDĐ advocated for a modern and democratic state, emphasizing the importance of education, civil rights, and social reform to achieve a just and equitable society. They were influenced by the success of the Chinese revolution and sought to mobilize the masses in a similar nationalist movement. However, their approach was not purely based on class struggle but rather on a broad coalition of social forces united by the common goal of national independence.

Throughout its history, the party engaged in various political and military struggles against the French colonial authorities and later against the Communist Party of Vietnam. Their commitment to an independent Vietnam led them to participate in several uprisings and campaigns, although they were often brutally suppressed by the colonial and, later, communist forces.

Despite their significant role in the early 20th-century Vietnamese nationalist movement, the VNQDĐ's influence waned over time, especially after the rise of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which eventually led the country to independence. Today, the VNQDĐ is remembered as one of the key nationalist groups that laid the groundwork for Vietnam's struggle for freedom, embodying values of patriotism, unity, and an enduring desire for national sovereignty.
